Pharmacy Technicians play a pivotal role in our organization, supporting many functions across all aspects of pharmacy operations. Positions range from accurately inputting prescription entries into our pharmacy systems and verifying them, to working closely with Pharmacists to identify corrections or changes in a prescription. Other positions require speaking directly to our patients who are calling for a consultation with a Pharmacist, to assisting in the filling and dispensing of medications.
In our CarePlus pharmacies, small pharmacies located on our client’s corporate campus, Technicians dispense acute and maintenance prescription drugs along with other over-the-counter (OTC) items. Exemplary customer service and attention to detail are key attributes for all these opportunities.

Pharmacy Technicians play a significant role at CVS/pharmacy, as they are often the first person customers interact with in the Pharmacy. We offer a number of positions and skill levels within this team and provide education and training to keep skills up to date. With a better-trained Pharmacy Support Staff, the customer has easier access to the Pharmacist -access that builds loyalty among our customers.
- Pharmacy Service Associate (PSA) - As the first person the customer comes into contact with, PSAs in this entry-level position are primarily focused on customer service and are responsible for ringing out prescriptions, answering telephones and Pharmacist referrals.
- Pharmacy Technician - Focused on customer service, prescription order processing, problem resolution and inventory management, Pharmacy Technicians in this second-level position help to ensure that the right customer receives the right prescription every time. CVS/pharmacy Technicians have stepped up to the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board challenge with pass rates far above the national average.
- Pharmacy Lead Technician - This third-level position builds upon the skills and responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician with a focus on mentoring and guiding Pharmacy Support Staff members in team development. The Lead Technician supports the Pharmacist and serves as a role model for other Pharmacy Support Staff members.

The Retail Pharmacy Customer Care Center team made up of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Customer Service Representatives, supports our stores and customers by handling phone inquires, refills, clinical questions, as well as other pharmacy related requests. This innovative Retail Pharmacy Customer Care Center located in Cumberland, Rhode Island, will allow our store pharmacy teams to spend more time assisting our in-store customers, and provide more one-on-one service, while the center will focus on servicing the customers with phone requests, providing a level of service that will exceed our customer’s expectations.
The Retail Pharmacy Customer Care Pharmacy Technician works as part of the call center team to ensure that each patient has a positive service experience with CVS/pharmacy. They ensure the delivery of outstanding customer service in alignment with company vision, mission and values.
