As a national leader in health care, at CVS Caremark our purpose is to help people on their path to better health. Our philanthropic giving reflects that through programs that address health and health care issues. Most recently, we have focused our initiatives to offer much-needed support for medical services for the most at-risk populations.
CVS Caremark provides community grants and support through our foundation, the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, to nonprofit organizations of all sizes that reduce barriers and increase access to health care services ranging from routine exams to preventative care. We also provide funding to support advancements in medical research and innovative new therapies by providing grants to leading hospitals across the country, including La Rabida Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital Boston, Phoenix Children's Hospital, Bradley Hospital, Children's Hospital of Michigan and the Cleveland Clinic. In addition, we have two in-store fundraising campaigns through our CVS/pharmacy retail stores, that support:
ALS Therapy Alliance Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a devastating disorder in which there is progressive degeneration of motor nerves in the brain and spinal cord leading to paralysis and death. Since 2002, CVS/pharmacy, the retail division CVS Caremark, has supported the mission of the ALS Therapy Alliance through a store-wide fundraising campaign. Together, CVS Caremark and its customers have raised more than $27 million to support the ALS Therapy Alliance in its research efforts.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Since 2004, CVS Caremark has raised more than $31 million through the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign, a 3-week in-store fundraising program at CVS/pharmacy during the holiday season. Funds raised by the campaign support the CVS Caremark Rehabilitation Services Center at St. Jude to truly help children reach their greatest potential by eliminating barriers so they can lead healthy, happy lives on their roads to recovery.
