CVS Caremark Receives 2009 Leading Women to the Top™ Award

November 13, 2009

Woonsocket, R.I. (November 13, 2009) – CVS Caremark was recently honored by Leading Women of Southeastern New England (SENE) with a “Leading Women to the Top™” Award, which recognizes companies whose women’s initiatives are having a measurable impact on advancing women. The company received an award in the Best Launch category for its Women’s Success Network, which was honored specifically for the mission, goals and planned metrics that contribute to advancing women. The award was presented at Leading Women of SENE’s third annual “Candid Conversations from the C-Suite” event.

Candid Conversations offered a unique opportunity to hear from some of the region’s most influential women business leaders and how they are addressing the challenging leadership terrain. They shared their insights, perspectives and strategies for successfully navigating the barriers and boundaries they faced as women leaders journeying through their career. This year’s panel included Helena Foulkes, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of CVS Caremark; Sheri Southern, senior vice president of Human Resources for GTECH; and Anne Nolan, president and chief executive officer of Crossroads Rhode Island.

"Leading Women is a terrific organization established to encourage and empower women to perform at their peak,” said Helena Foulkes, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of CVS Caremark. “We are so honored to be recognized by them for the launch of the CVS Caremark Women's Success Network through which female employees can take advantage of mentoring relationships with senior executives and participate in volunteerism programs."

Foulkes continued, "Since the program was initiated over the past year and a half, the Women's Success Network has reached well over 1,000 CVS Caremark colleagues and we are thrilled to receive an award from Leading Women for the impact the program has had on the advancement of women in the workplace."

Lisa Bergeron, president of Leading Women SENE, said, "It is critical we recognize the effectiveness of internal women's networks and how well they support business objectives and the organization's goals to recruit, advance and retain women. We also know that women at the top of organizations are just plain good for business - and good for other women.”
