CVS/pharmacy July Same Store Sales Increase 5.2%

WOONSOCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2007--CVS Caremark Corporation (NYSE: CVS) today announced that same store sales (sales from retail pharmacy stores open more than one year) in its CVS/pharmacy division for the four weeks ended July 28, 2007 increased 5.2% over the prior year period. Pharmacy same store sales increased 4.8%, and were negatively impacted by approximately 720 basis points due to recent generic introductions. Front-end same store sales increased 6.0%. Same store sales include sales from the 701 drugstores acquired on June 2, 2006 from Albertsons.

Same store sales at CVS/pharmacy for the thirty week period increased 6.3% over the prior year period. Pharmacy same store sales increased 6.4%, while front-end same store sales increased 6.2%.

During the four week period ended July 28, 2007, CVS/pharmacy opened 5 new stores, closed 2 stores and relocated 15 others. As of July 28, 2007, the Company operated 6,180 CVS/pharmacy stores in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
