CVS/pharmacy's Transportation Operations Receives Two National Safety Awards

CVS Logistics Department recognized by the American Trucking Association and the National Private Truck Council

WOONSOCKET, R.I., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS/pharmacy was recently honored by two transportation trade associations with national safety awards for the transportation operations of its Logistics Department. The Company received the American Trucking Association's (ATA) 2009 President's Trophy in the "Under 25 Million Miles" category. In addition, the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) selected Ralph Haynes, a driver based in CVS/pharmacy's Knoxville, TN distribution center as one of its 2009 National Driver All-Stars.

The ATA President's Trophy is the highest safety award available to motor carriers in the United States and is presented annually to only three carriers, one in each of three categories: Under 25 Million Miles, 25-100 Million Miles and Over 100 Million Miles. CVS/pharmacy's transportation operations were judged the most outstanding for Under 25 Million Miles on the basis of its safety record, programs and community outreach activities.

NPTC's National Driver All-Stars were recognized during its National Safety Conference and were selected based on their meeting high performance standards in the fields of customer service, safety and compliance. Haynes was one of just 12 private fleet truck drivers to be selected this year.

"We are very proud to receive this recognition from the ATA and the NPTC, two well-respected trade associations in our industry," said Ron Link, Senior Vice President of Logistics at CVS/pharmacy. "Ralph Haynes is well-deserving of his All-Star award. He embodies our mission to support our stores' fulfillment needs with a high level of customer service while ensuring the safety of our fleet and our transportation associates."
