MinuteClinic Helping with Diabetes Care this Spring by Providing Free Monitoring Service
WOONSOCKET, R.I., April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MinuteClinic is helping patients with diabetes stay on top of their condition this spring by offering a free monitoring visit. This service helps patients with diabetes keep their health in check between visits to a primary care provider, and is available seven days a week at the walk-in medical clinics inside select CVS/pharmacy stores across the United States.
The complimentary monitoring service administered by a MinuteClinic nurse practitioner or physician assistant includes:
- Hemoglobin A1c and blood glucose test (as needed)
- Blood pressure check
- Body mass index (BMI)
- Cholesterol test
- Comprehensive foot exam
- Microalbumin test (kidney function check)
The practitioner will also conduct a review of lifestyle factors and give immediate results and recommendations. With patient permission, MinuteClinic will share a copy of the visit record with the patient's primary care provider.

MinuteClinic also offers comprehensive health condition monitoring services for individuals diagnosed with high cholesterol, high blood pressure and asthma.
Additionally, MinuteClinic practitioners diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common family illnesses such as strep throat and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections. Skin conditions, minor wounds, abrasions and joint sprains are treated, and common vaccinations for influenza, tetanus, pneumonia, pertussis and Hepatitis A & B are offered at each location. Walk-in camp, sports and college physicals are available daily.
