Seniors Save More than 9.2 million with myPharmaCare Prescription Drug Discount Card
LINCOLN, R.I., Nov 29, 2004 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- PharmaCare, a subsidiary of CVS Corporation (NYSE: CVS), has received positive reviews on cost savings from customers who use its myPharmaCare card, the company's Medicare-approved prescription drug discount card. Within the first 6 months, total savings for Medicare seniors with myPharmaCare card has been over 9.2 million dollars.
Already, more than 45,000 Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled with PharmaCare's drug discount card, which provides real savings to seniors who didn't have access to prescription discounts before.
"I have already recommended myPharmaCare to friends and family because they will save money on their prescriptions. All they have to do is go to CVS and pick up an enrollment form," said James Maddot of Bedford, MA. Maddot saved 64 percent off the usual and customary price charged for Combivent, a prescription inhaler used for bronchitis and emphysema. "I take more than one prescription so every little bit of money saved helps and I'm looking forward to saving money on my next prescription."
Additionally, despite reported general criticism that the sign-up process for Medicare drug discount cards is confusing, myPharmaCare members have found the myPharmaCare card enrollment process simple and easy to understand. "The enrollment form was easy to complete. I actually enrolled over the phone and that was even simpler because I just told customer service basic information and they charged the cost of the card to my credit card. I was quite happy with the enrollment process," said myPharmaCare member Robert Miller of Randolph, MA.
"myPharmaCare delivers lower prescription drug prices to older Americans who most need it. Our customers are also telling us that signing up for the card and getting started on receiving these savings is easy. As a pharmacy benefits manager, with real experience in providing patient-focused service, PharmaCare has the ability to successfully deliver the promised benefits of the Medicare discount card program," said Greg Weishar, President and CEO of PharmaCare. Beneficiaries of the myPharmaCare card typically save between 35% and 65% on the cost of their prescriptions drugs.
The myPharmaCare card is being accepted at all 5,000 CVS pharmacies in 36 states and the District of Columbia and more than 35,000 pharmacies across the country. Enrollment information is available by calling 1-800-601-3002 or by visiting http://www.pharmacare.com.
