Talent

Fresh ideas and new perspectives are the fuel that drive innovation at CVS Caremark. That's why having a diverse workforce is so critical. It enables us to generate a wider variety of ideas and opinions on how to make the CVS Caremark experience easier for customers. What's more important is that we maintain an environment where these ideas and opinions aren't just heard, but valued and integrated into our daily business decisions.

Tom Ryan - Chairman, President, CEO - CVS Caremark

CVS Caremark embraces the value of diverse talent. Diverse talent expands our knowledge as a company and puts us in closer touch with our customers. Better understanding their needs helps us pursue the innovative approaches to health care that will empower our drive to improve the quality of human life.

Corporate Diversity Council

In 2001, our Corporate Diversity Council was formed to ensure that CVS Caremark is well-equipped to serve, attract and retain a range of individuals representative of the markets where we do business. Since that time, the Council has launched and developed a number of initiatives, including:

  • Diversity awareness training for all leaders who manage others
  • Diversity market research through employee and customer feedback
  • The inclusion of diversity metrics within the performance goals of all middle management and above

The current Council is made up of leaders from Field, PBM and Corporate management, representing departments such as Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Store Operations and Human Resources. Its strategies and initiatives are aligned under the Pillars of Talent Acquisition/Development, Communication, Customer & Policies/Practices. The Council continues to evolve in shaping an ever growing, changing and dynamic company culture.

Some of the more recent concepts initiated through the Council have addressed multi-cultural marketing demands, and the formation of a supplier diversity structure.
